Liffey Valley Ice Rink, Dublin
Vibrant Partnerships were approached by property developers Hines to assist with plans for the creation of Ireland’s only ice centre at Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Dublin; because of our proven track record of planning and operating commercially successful, high profile venues.
Hines are embarking on a major expansion of the already popular Liffey Valley Shopping Centre and aim to establish the centre as the leading retail and leisure destination in Ireland. As part of this expansion Hines wanted to develop a world class ice centre capable of hosting major championships and performances as the destination’s signature leisure attraction.
Hines has a wealth of expertise in planning and developing retail destinations but recognised that there was a knowledge and experience gap in developing ice venues.
We currently operate Lee Valley Ice Centre which receives over 350,000 visitors per year and hosts regional, national and international events, including the Irish Figure Skating Championships, the first to be held outside of Ireland.
Working with Hines’ design team, Vibrant Partnerships’ knowledge and experience has been fundamental to:
Developing the business plan
including stake holder consultation, socio-demographic and travel time catchment analysis, development of activity programme and calculating short to long term financial and visitor projections.
The design work completed by Vibrant Partnerships significantly contributed to the design of a fit for purpose venue with commercial and visitor elements considered from the outset. The production of the business plan enabled Hines to assess the financial and non-financial benefits of the proposed ice centre as well as providing detail required for the planning application.
Hines has received planning consent for the majority of the expansion of the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre.
